Hanson Racing has been on the youth racing scene since 2002, but the team has actually been in existence from the year 1994, all be it amongst the pro ranks.
The founder of Hanson Racing is multi-time British Champion Greg Hanson. Greg is a former 125 British Champion back in 1986, and British Fourstroke Champion in 1990. He also competed in GP’s back in the 80’s with Team Green, and in 1990 aboard a very special CCM, the only fourstroke competing in the championship at that time…….my, how thing’s have changed!! His best finish in GP’s was a 9th, which he achieved on two occasions, once at the Italian GP back in 87’, and again a few years later in Luxemburg in 94’, running out of his own awning.
In 2002, Greg retired from racing at the ripe old age of 38, the same year he met a chap called Colin Copperthwaite. Colin was at the Flackwell Heath practice track in High Wycombe with his son Ryan, Greg happened to be out practising at the same track, and got chatting with Colin, offering his son some riding tips. From that day, a partnership was born, and Hanson Racing affectively entered the realms of youth development.
To this day, the partnership is still very much intact, with Colin playing a vital role behind the scenes, allowing Greg to bring the team forward using the years of experience gained from world and domestic racing. From what started out as youth training program, has now developed into a fully fledged race team, helping to develop riders of all ages and levels.
This coming year we hope to take the team to new levels, the new website will be the place to find out about all that’s new and happening around the team.
Welcome to Hanson Racing.
